Introducing the new DriverDB.
|
|
DriverDB is a RAFA Media brand, part of the media group building the leading motorsport media ecosystem, alongside The Race, Traxion, Grid Finder, and more, reaching millions of fans worldwide.
And today we are re-releasing DriverDB built from the ground up.
The new site is faster, cleaner, and more powerful, designed to make it easier than ever to find and follow your favorite drivers across every series, from Formula 1 to NASCAR and beyond.
DriverDB is becoming ad-free, so you can access the world's most comprehensive motorsport database without interruption.
DriverDB has over 14,000 championships, more than 190,000 drivers, and results all the way back to the 19th century. This is the foundation, and we're just getting started. Thank you for sticking with us through this relaunch. We hope you enjoy it.

Here's what is new:
|
The DriverDB Rating
The DriverDB Rating is a new, proprietary rating system specifically for racing, built on solid statistical methods and designed for the real-world diversity and complexity of motorsport. It is built to compare all drivers, even across disciplines such as oval or endurance racing.
Before each race, the DriverDB Rating estimates the probability of a driver finishing in every possible position. After the race, it compares those pre-race probabilities with the actual finishing order. The adjustment to all of the drivers' ratings depends on positions gained or lost relative to their pre-race odds, but also on how unlikely a driver's finishing position was. Field quality, consistency of results, and frequency of races also play a role in how much DriverDB Rating a driver can gain or lose in an event.
For a complete explanation of how the DriverDB Rating works, read the DriverDB Rating FAQs.

The Global 100 Rankings
The DriverDB Rating enables an improved version of the Global 100 rankings in motorsports. This rating system crosses boundaries between disciplines, such as oval and endurance, and attempts to answer who is truly the best in the world. We welcome your feedback on the results of this new approach to measuring performance.
